Dough Networkz Brings Exciting First Half of 'Above Cloud Vision'

Dough Networkz has salted the hip-hop scene considerably with his underground vibes. This OG from Inglewood, California, had the legendary DirtyDiggs on board for his debut record 'Above Cloud Vision' in the summer of 2019. He is the man behind the creation of Lord Mobb Music's 'East to West' compilation album, which is already a hit. And now, here we are with the release of Side A of his latest project, in anticipation of the follow-up coming in a week.

Osbe Chill & Tek's intro track "Niyyah" sets the tone right away. It is a soulful yet raw story about being tossed back and forth between your strength and your faults. 'A Day Late & $1 Short' by Boldy James & Trizz follows this up in a super awesome way. These guys make it clear that they were into stacks before they were adults at all.

Jason Martin, known as Problem, shakes up the West Coast along with Jayson Cash and WeSSmont SSkeme with "Fake Dead. Here Jason Martin drops without a doubt the most tasteful verse. Next comes "Dreamin'" from Big Twins, a track that feels like a trip through the streets he calls home.

Then you get Conway the Machine who teams up with Sirrealist to drop the predatory boom bap track "Sawed Off. The message is clear: don't get involved in things you have nothing to do with. Jay Worthy then reveals that a party doesn't start until he enters the scene with "3 Hours Past Noon.

'Never Knew' by Jameel Na'im X, King Akeem & Young Roddy brings a pulverizing soulful vibe. The guys reflect on the unexpected path their love has taken. Then there's 'Sunsets Over Inglewood' by Domo Genesis, which pays tribute to the Southwest with a raw but honest track.

N8NOFACE hurls some attitude at the youth on 'Old Rules,' with a fat finger in the air at those who call him "old head." Airplane James & The Jack Moves change the pace with the soulful ballad "Automatic Lovers. 'Rap Camp' by Ab-Soul and his crew offers epic interplay and 'Crime Networkz' featuring Crimeapple & RLX evokes the atmosphere of their collab album 'Los Pollos Hermanos'.

Tha God Fahim carries 'Eyes of the Beholder' with a haunting beat as he carries the world on his shoulders. The track 'Goodbye Twice' by Baron Davis & T.F. comes with strong Uncut Gems vibes. 'Lil Bobby' by Hyde Park Firebug & Traffic brings the true shit back to the front, and 'Play Your Role' by Cala the Prophet is a lesson in realness.

And now we wait in suspense to see what the second act will sound like. But one thing is for sure, Side A has already left us with curled up salt. What NoyOne and J.R. did back then remains legendary, but the talented lineup here gives us just as much reason to boogie'en to them beats. Both established names and new voices bring their A-game. A slice of salty genius: 7 out of 10!
