Madd Maxxx, the emcee from Brockton, Massachusetts, is back with a rock hard release! This OG of the Mission: Infect crew shows with his fourth studio album that he knows how to reinvent himself. He already has the necessary experience with a string of full-length albums, mixtapes and no less than six EPs dropped on his own. His last album, “Kaleidoscope,” was one of the hardest things he's ever put down. In addition, last summer he released the “Dirtcore ‘24” EP, a very salty addition to his repertoire!
In a few weeks, it's time for the Gathering of the Juggalos, and who else but Madd Maxxx and Bodies Below Sea Level will be on stage there next month. This is the perfect time for Crossworm to take on the full production of “G A T H E R,” ready for the 25th edition of the festival!
The record kicks off with an “Unnecessarily Long Skippable Intro,” after which Madd switches gears to the title track. Here he fully unleashes his dope synth skills and drum sounds on the listener, calling on the underground to join him. ‘Let's Fuckin“ Go Then’ throws in a boom bap vibe, where he talks about now finally being on the surface and not denying himself anymore. Boom!
One of the rawest tracks is “God is a Juggalo.” With dusty beats, Madd raps about how the higher powers support the Insane Clown Posse, with their own view that the Dark Carnival acts as God. “Jester's Privilege” pops in, aiming his arrows at weak MCs while taking the liberty to say what he wants. Real talk, in other words!
In “Zombie Walk,” Madd goes creepy with a violin sample and talks about how he connects with fans of weed, horror movies and hip-hop. And then there's the fierce horrorcore track “Bats in the Belfry,” where he's candid about the voices in his head.
With “Stop Rapping,” Madd Maxxx brings back the boom bap and he pays another homage to the recently deceased “Prince of Darkness,” Black Sabbath legend Ozzy Osbourne. The industrial track “I Can't Stop” is his enduring declaration of never stopping - Madd is here to stay!
Even if I can't be at the Gathering of Legends, I'm sure Madd and Crossworm will put on a set there that will blow the room away, with that signature industrial hip-hop flavor and obvious boom bap influences. Mark it in your calendar, because this salty collective is not to be missed if you want to go to Juggalo Championship Wrestling, where Mad Man Pondo takes the stage to reclaim the title from GCW goat Matt Tremont.
