The hip-hop scene in Philadelphia is back on its feet, as dope emcees King Syze, Planetary and Reef the Lost Cauze have joined forces for a new collaborative project: an EP produced by the legendary Snowgoons. The three of them are all well-known members of the Army of the Pharaohs collective, while Planetary is also part of the duo OuterSpace along with King Syze's brother Crypt the Warchild, even before the formation of AotP. Reef is no stranger to the collaborative game, as some 10 years ago he already dropped a rock hard collab project with King Syze called Year of the Hyenas. Now they have reunited for Murderers' Row, with Planetary by their side.<\/p>\n
The EP begins with the title track after which the track \"Yard Rec\" immediately sets the tone with a strong boom bap vibe. This opening track lets everyone know they better listen closely. \"Royal Family\" brings a unique vibe with Planetary's kids ELEMXNT joining in, along with Kxng Charisma and Trxstworthy. It's the only track without the bars of Reef the Lost Cauze and revolves around their penchant for creepy things.<\/p>\n
\"The Most Imperial\" continues the line with a gritty sound, where the guys show the type of people they surround themselves with. On \"Heat Wave,\" they spit over the excess of wannabes and aim to keep the real vibes.<\/p>\n
The second half of the EP begins with \"Death Penalty,\" which uses piano-driven boom bap beats to warn anyone who thinks they survived last year. After all, they say that last year was actually their last. With \"187,\" they create a masterpiece by establishing murder as an art form. The final track \"Something Outta Nothing\" closes the album nicely with tales of hustlin' and grindin' to achieve their goals.<\/p>\n
Murderers' Row is a true trip down memory lane for old-school heads who still had Year of the Hyenas on heavy rotation during the cold winter of 2014. This project manages to recapture that nostalgic energy while simultaneously fitting Reef the Lost Cauze perfectly into this hip-hop cocktail, making it sound like one. The unique Snowgoons style in the production, combined with the diverse flows and raucous bars of each Army of the Pharaoh member, results in an incredible hardcore hip-hop experience that you really shouldn't miss.<\/p>\n
