Salt-N-Pepa's induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is a huge step forward for female representation in hip-hop. Along with OutKast and other icons, they were recognized for their contributions to music history. Salt shared her enthusiasm, \u2018It feels great. We've done everything now, right? We have the Walk of Fame, the Lifetime Achievement Award, the Grammys. We can go on and on. I don't think there's an award we haven't gotten, so we're very excited.\u2019 <\/p>\n
Salt-N-Pepa broke barriers as the first major female rap group and the first women in rap to achieve platinum status, earning them the title \u2018First Ladies of Rap. With more than 15 million records sold worldwide and hits like \u2019Push It,\u2018 \u2019Shoop\u2018 and \u2019Whatta Man,\u2018 they have salted the hip-hop scene considerably. <\/p>\n
DJ Spinderella added, \u2018I think we changed the scope of women's empowerment, or helped change it, and that feels great to be part of that change, or to help lead it. The induction ceremony will take place Nov. 8 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. <\/p>\n
This recognition comes at a time when hip-hop is gaining recognition in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, with Salt-N-Pepa joining other rap pioneers honored by the institution.
